A Little Love from a Reader
I received the nicest email today. My Deb Logan newsletter went out earlier in the day and one reader wrote to tell me how excited she was that there’s a new Prentiss Twins story out… a Christmas story. She has 10-year-old twin boys who LOVE the Prentiss Twins and she’s excited to share the new story with them this Christmas.
I can’t tell you how much this means to me! She literally made my day by taking the time to write and tell me that Thunderbird and Coyote are her boys’ favorite books. Writing is the best job in the world, but it’s also very isolating. You can forget there are people on the other side of the screen. Some of whom actually look forward to reading your stories. A reminder goes a long way in encouraging a writer to keep on typing.

Ahh… Accounting!
Today I spent quite a bit of time doing my year end accounting. Not financial, I keep up with that all year. No, today was spent reviewing what I’ve accomplished in 2021. Accounting for what I’ve learned, what I’ve written, what I’ve published, and what I sold to other markets.
I never write as much in a year as I want or expect, but it’s good to take a look at the reality of everything I did accomplish. It’s been a good year. A task for another day will be setting my goals for 2022: what do I hope to publish? What do I plan to write? How will I amend my daily schedule to accomplish those goals?
Planning is good… as long as you don’t allow yourself to wallow when / if you fail to meet a goal. Just keep chugging along and realize that you can literally fail your way to success as long as you don’t stop!
Onward and upward to 2022!

A bit of spring on a December day…
Christmas is coming…
I’ll probably add more Christmas-y pictures as the big day grows closer, but today I wanted to feature a soft Santa doll I made a few (make that quite a few!) years ago. I’m very proud of this guy and enjoy bringing him out every year. I hope you enjoy seeing him 😀
My mother-in-law made the jeweled tree, and the pink and white quilt hanging on the rail behind Santa was made by my grandmother. The story goes that it was made from pieces of my mother’s outgrown dresses… as many quilts were at that time. My mother quilted too, by hand, and it always bothered her to cut up perfectly good yardage into the little pieces required to construct quilt blocks. That was never a concern for me, having grown up in a more affluent time period.
It’s interesting to think about the societal norms that shape our thinking. They seem immutable… just the way things are… and yet they change from generation to generation. As all things do.
