2021 Reading Report

This is the first year I’ve ever bothered to keep track of how many books (and which ones) I’ve read. I mean, I read a lot, but it’s never occurred to me to track my reading. At the end of 2020 a friend commented on how many books she read and how it stacked up to the year before, and I thought, “Huh. I wonder how many I read?”

So, being the spreadsheet fanatic that I am, I set up a sheet on my 2021 project tracker — yes, I keep a spreadsheet of what projects I have in the works and move them from the “in process” sheet to the “completed” sheet when I finish — for books read, including those novels I’ve beta read for friends.

And the answer is: *drumroll, please!* I have read 130 novels in 2021.

I wonder how many I’ll read in 2022?

Counting Down to the New Year

Wow. Christmas is behind us and 2022 is right around the corner. How did that happen?

This final week of the year is my traditional time to gear up for the new one. Finalize my current year spreadsheets; wrap up my achievements. How many books / stories did I write? How many did I publish? Did I move any novels or collections into print? How are they faring? What about my marketing efforts… did they pay off?

With that data in mind, it’s time to plan for the new year! What are my goals? What’s my timeline for new work? That’s preliminary, of course, and will change as opportunities present themselves during the next 12 months. Also preliminary is my publishing schedule for 2022. It won’t be set in stone, but it’ll exist before I settle in to celebrate the New Year 😀

So, here we go! Plans for 2022 are being made and I’ll be setting them with firm determination. Onward!
