I love the Run for the Roses. Am anxiously awaiting the running of this year’s Kentucky Derby.
Horses are part of my family heritage. My dad trained and raced harness horses, but he loved watching the “running horses” too. Lots of good memories tied up in this race *VBG*

ETA: Now THAT was a horse race! Well done Animal Kingdom…though I did hate to see Shackleford edged out of the money. He ran a great race, just not quite enough oomph left for the end.
The Kentucky Derby is arguably the most famous horse race in the United States. In the entire history of the Derby only three fillies have won the race Regret in 1915 Genuine Risk in 1980 and Winning Colors in 1988.
